These formulations are a starting point. Questions are refined according to the objects, available materials and the expert's competence.

Specific questions about correspondence and business wording

It is helpful to tie questions to a particular sentence, letter or sequence of messages. Identify the passage and the linguistic issue that needs explanation. Phrases such as breached the contract, deceived or must pay describe a party's legal position and do not themselves define a linguistic task.

  1. Which subject, deadline or action does the indicated reference relate to in the passage supplied?
  2. What conditions and limitations are expressed in the disputed sentence, and how are they related?
  3. Does this message express a particular request, proposal, agreement, refusal or assumption, and by what means?
  4. Does the wording permit the readings proposed by the participants, considering its grammatical and textual context?
  5. Does the meaning of the disputed provision change between the text versions supplied, and how is the difference expressed?

For each question, prepare the full context of the phrase, relevant appendices and information about the version used. If the correspondence discusses different projects or batches of goods, retain their identifiers: deleting those details during anonymisation can make references unclear.

It is best to devote each question to a single issue. If the authenticity of an export or authorship of a message needs checking, that is treated as a separate task. A linguistic explanation of content is based on the material supplied and does not automatically verify the sender's identity, the file's editing history or actual performance of the action discussed.
